Indestructible???

Janie the Oil Baroness over at
Sounding Forth sent me this cool dog toy for Luna to play with. I saw her pup playing with it on her blog and asked her about it. I've been looking for a rugged toy for Luna.

Luna is 1 and still teething in my opinion. She started out with stuffed animals but she quickly realized she could rip them open and take out their guts and leave it all over my carpet. Luna isn't allowed to have stuffed animals anymore. By the way, Beanie Babies really have beans in them. THOUSANDS OF THEM....that roll nicely all over your kitchen floor and you still find some months later. I don't recommend pups playing with Beanie Babies.

Back to Janie. She was WONDERFUL enough to send Luna 2 of these Indestructible toys. I gave Luna the bone yesterday and she started to shred it to pieces. I took it away from her and thought we'd save it for when we take her to the off leash dog park as a retrieving tool. I told Janie about it and she said "As to the toys...Zanna the Montana also known as Zanna the Destroyer couldn't tear them up. If your pup tears them up I'll send you another. They're supposed to be virtually indestructible. Seriously. That's why they call them tufftoys.

The toys are rated from 7-10. The Ultimate bone is rated 8.

Ultimate Bone™
“Vet Recommended and Approved”
Ultimate Construction: Each toy is made with two layers of industrial grade luggage material and 1 layer of soft fleece on the outside. All of these layers are sewn together to make one super strong layer of material. Each toy is sewn together with 2 layers of cross stitching and then 2 layers of linear stitching. After the toy is sewn together an additional piece of black trim is added to cover the four rows of stitching. This extra piece of black trim is sewn with 3 linear stitches to give the product a total of 7 seams. That's one tough toy! The Ultimate Series are designed to be play toys and not chew toys.

Each toy is washable (air dry) and they Float !

So I gave the bone back to Luna for further testing.
We'll see if she needs a level 10 bone.
Once I get her trained for pheasant hunting I wonder if this is how she'll treat the bird?

Morning note:

We had to take the toy away from her this morning because she wouldn't eat her crunchies.
All she wants is this toy!!!

THANKS JANIE!! We will keep you posted on the destruction progress!!

Happy Hump Day!

Yuck!

I think we had a case of gastroenteritis
(aka the stomach flu) yesterday.
I won't go into detail because if you've ever had it
you'll know it's not pleasant!

I Don't Pay My Bills

I receive a phone call last night from Verizon. The gal on the other end is giggling as she asks:

Verizon Employee: Is this Jennifer?
Me: Yes, this is Jennifer

Verizon Employee: The reason for my phone call is to inform you that your cell phone bill is past due.
Me: It is? I know I paid it in a timely manner (I do all my bills)

Verizon Employee: Well actually, your account is past due .79 cents
Me: Ummm, your kidding me? Your actually calling accounts that are .79 cents past due?

Verizon Employee: (She's giggling still) Yes ma'am
Me: Well do you want me to go online and pay the .79 cents?

Verizon Employee: No, that's okay. You can add it to your next payment.
Me: Okay, will do!

Verizon Employee: Is there anything else I can do for you this evening?
Me: Ummm, no not really as you called me!

Verizon Employee: Okay, have a good evening!
Me: You too!

As I hung up my cell phone I realized that company has WAY TOO MUCH TIME on their hands!

Happy Wednesday!

I'm a Law Abiding Citizen

I'm a Law Abiding Citizen and it kicks me in the ass every morning.
I have to make a right hand turn off of a very busy county road. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you can not cross over the solid white line to make the right turn.
SO........ people begin getting in the shoulder about 2 blocks before the turn. Mind you, they have crosssed the solid line and wait in line to turn right. I am up in the correct area to make the turn but can't and have to STOP, wait to merge into the lane to make the turn because of all the people illegally in the shoulder area. Now people are honking their horns behind me because I'm stopping traffic on the main road.
Do I break the law and get on the shoulder to keep the flow of traffic going ??
I'm not one too...... If your friend jumped off a bridge would you?
"Keep up with the Jones"?
Damn Cliques!!!
Happy Traffic Tuesday!

White, Whiter, Whitest

I use these things to help whiten my teeth. They work but they aren't the handiest things to use. You peal away the tape kinda of like you would unwrap a band aid. Plaster the strips on the front of your teeth. Try not to swallow the crap as it oozes down your throat while wearing them for 30 minutes. Toss the finished strips out the car window. "Don't worry, the birds will use it for nesting material!"
Does anyone use a whitening toothpaste that works?
I'd like to try a toothpaste instead of the strips.
Have a super Monday!

God Bless

Nadya Suleman, the single mother of newborn octuplets, is using the Internet to help support her family of 14 children. She's started a Web site seeking donations.

Her New Web Site

Look, she accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and PayPal.

In her interview with Ann Curry she also said she is not "on welfare," which is a bit of a semantic dodge, because it turns out she's receiving both food stamps and Social Security payments for three of her children who suffer from unspecified disabilities. She also said she plans to "support" her family with federally guaranteed student loans while she pursues a master's in counseling. (One tries to imagine receiving therapy from this woman, but the mind refuses to form the requisite image.)

A spokesman for the San Francisco office of the Social Security Administration, said that a single parent with no income qualifies for up to $793 a month for each child with a physical or mental condition that results in "marked or severe functional limitations". Suleman's 3 disabled children received the maximum payment, she would get nearly $2,900 a month in state and federal assistance, including the food stamps.

Despite those who feel compelled to offer donations to Suleman, it appears taxpayers in California will undoubtedly shoulder a part of her family's financial burden.

I personally don't think she did a smart thing. Who am I to judge.
What's your thoughts on this gal's situation?

Happy Friday Eve!

Just What I've Always Wanted!

Officer Princess (Sandi's Daughter, My Niece) went to California and brought me back a gift. Here's a picture of Officer Princess.
That's what we call her for two reasons. Number one, she really is a Houston Police Officer. Number two, she really is a beautiful princess.

Here she is again on the right! (what is that stain on your shirt woman?)

Back to my gift.
She bought me this shot glass that says "Venice Muscle Beach". I've always wanted one of these. I don't know why as I don't drink hard liquor. We are beer drinkers at our house. But now I can show it off to everyone that comes over to the house. I thought about using it as a glass for the quarters drinking game but we don't play that either.

So I look at the bottom to remove the sticker and it wasn't a price sticker at all, it was more shocking than that.
It say's "State of California PROP 65 This product may contain one or more substances or chemicals known to the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. "

What the hell? Are they referring to what you put in the shot glass? Is the glass tainted?
Geee thanks Officer Princess I think your trying to secretly kill me?
I don't even dare place it in my cupboard next to all of my other glassware for fears the shot glass in question may do something to them.
Maybe she won't know if I re-gift it!
So now what do I do with the darn thing?
Happy Tainted Tuesday!

My Art

Yesterday's post was about my favorite artists.
wanted to know if I had any of my work on my walls.
I do have two oil paintings up.
Here's the painting I have in one of the bathrooms called "The Mexican Door".
I don't have a picture of the other one. I could go take a picture of it but I'm lazy today!

Art

I went to art school for 2 years right out of high school. I discovered that I loved to paint, pencil, draw and design but I SUCKED at it, so I bailed.

I've been an Accountant for 28 years. Go figure!

My two FAVORITE artists that I studied while in school, Van Gogh and Picasso

Here are a couple of pictures of their work

Van Gogh's "Irises"

Picasso's "Girl Reading"

Do you like fine art? Who do you like?

Upcycling

Upcycling is the act of creating useful products from waste materials. You’ve probably seen several upcycled products on the market today–reusable bags are often made from old plastic bags, t-shirts, juice pouches and cookie wrappers. Among design junkies, craftsters, and green folks.

This shower curtain doesn’t have to be just that. It could also be a curtain for a window or a work of art hanging on the wall. It is made from brown paper bags, magazine, and, soon to be thrown away by everyone, 2006 calendar. Sealed with Modge Podge and zigzag stitched together.

Skateboard Stairs

Old Pallet Furniture

Innertube Wallets

Belt Bracelets

Old Jeans Hand Bags
Mexican Chicklet Gum Wrapper Purses
Larry and I bought one of these in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for his daughter. I think we paid $7 for it. Sadly, they are selling on EBay for starting bids of $50. Heck, I thought about flying back down just to stock up on the suckers, come back and sell them on EBay. Oh well. Maybe that skill of folding gum wrappers back in high school will come back to me and I could actually make them???

Do you "Upcycle"? Have you seen any cool upcycled products?

Happy Friday Eve!!!

My Friend the "Travel Mug"

I don't know about you but my coffee travel mug is my friend. I can't leave home in the morning without it. Ever!! We leave our coffee mugs nicely lined up right next to the coffee maker. It's just easier that way to fill and go.

Some mornings I go to fill my coffee mug and realize I've left it at work. I almost go into panic mode because I want my favorite travel mug that I use everyday. I don't want to go into the cupboard and get down a different one. That's why the "other" travel mugs are sitting in the cupboard because they are not my favorites. They are back ups.

I like the travel mug that is depicted here because the holder in my car doesn't do well with the mugs that have handles on them. They get all tippy and we don't want tippy-spillage in the car now do we? I should throw away the mugs with handles. No, I am not a pack rat!

Is your travel mug your best friend?

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

At least he was smart enough to use a "water pipe"!
Get it.....water pipe? Swimmer? Water pipe?
Oh, nevermind!

Reminds me of the days when we use to drip candles in Chianti bottles.
Doesn't it?
