Hurricane Ike Update No. 5,483,309,000,981

WOO HOO!!!! What a ride! I slept until around 4 am and got up and checked outside and it was windy and raining but not as bad as I thought it would be. We faired very well here, just a few limbs and leaves scattered about and my dog's swimming pool was upside down about 6 feet from where I put it. About 4:30 this morning we had a couple of power surges and lost our cable, but it was just a flicker and then came right back on. We were truly blessed.
Houston and Galveston didn't do so good. No one has any power and the city officials have asked that they not use the water unless it's boiled first. Downtown is apparently a disaster area with glass blown out of alot of buildings (oh darn........I might not be able to go to work Monday!!!). One of the reports even showed someones computer in the middle of the street all smashed to smithereen's.

I was worried about leaving my doggie outside, but he has a substantial house of his own and because he doesn't have his indoor manners down very well yet, we let him hang in his own crib.

One little animal I was worried about were our hummingbirds. I had visions of them hanging on to tree limbs for dear life getting the snot blown out of them. I walked out back this morning to take some pictures and guess what I saw in the view finder? That's right..........2 hummingbirds staring back at me. The wind was still blowing pretty hard and these little guys are just flitting all over the place. My husband took the picture of me holding the feeder just a little while ago and there were about 6 hummingsbirds dancing around it.

~Blessings~

Hey I didn't have to type the unknown and unreadable magic word! You 2 are 14 degrees cooler now because of it.

I think I might miss it though just a bit, so for old times sake I want to type a mystery word. Okay?

Siffledopler

there. :-)

I'm happy to hear you made it through. Just came across your site last week and finally revisiting today.

You have no idea how jealous I am that you have hummingbirds. I only have one once a year. I call it Hummy and it stays a week and leaves. I did a post about Hummy last week.

We also have goats. So I'm going to catch up with all your archives.
