Lake Vermillion - Cook, MN

Larry and I stayed at Ludlow's Island Resort on Lake Vermillion - MN last weekend. Our cabin was beautiful, fishing was GREAT was Crap! Didn't catch a thing besides Larry's HUGE sunfish.
Our weekend also included gourmet meals prepared by John VanHouse - the Chef from the famous restaurant Murray's Restaurant in Minneapolis.

Our cabin was located on an Island and you had to use this old fashion phone to call the resort and they would come over and fetch us via boat. Was pretty cool!

Me on said phone!

Some photo's of our cabin

Our cabin from Lake Side

Captain Larry!

Larry's big catch!

The resort owners Mark and Sally sat at our table for one of the gourmet meals.

The resort owners had the Chef and everyone sign a plate to put up on their wall. There's Larry (In the black shirt) hehehe.

Hurricane Ike Picture

Here is a picture of Officer Princess during Hurricane Ike. She said this picture was taken at 8 pm on Friday night. The eye of the storm starting crossing over Galveston around 4 am the next morning. At 8 pm, it was pretty darn gutsy gusty.

And just look at my baby girl with guns and tazers and cuffs and crap hanging everywhere. You can't really see them in this picture, but trust me...... they're there.

Here's another great photo of Officer Princess. I think she was eight years old in this one. Do you remember M.C. Hammer?

Have a great weekend!!!

A Day On Lake Minnetonka

We went on my sister and brother-in-law's boat out on Lake Minnetonka. Lake Mtka is probably one the nicest lakes in the "Twin Cities" area and close to the metro so it's a highly desireable lake to "try" to live on. Most tear-down homes start at $800,000 which are consumed up fast only to be replaced with the new 2.5 million+ dollar home. It's fun to go out there and people watch.

Mom, sister and brother in law

This is Jimmy Jam's house. He's a Minnesota native and a famous Grammy winning record producer. His most famous client is Janet Jackson, yada, yada, yada!

If this real estate bubble really does burst, maybe we can all pitch in and buy Jimmy Jam's Lakefront house which is up for a cool $11 million. The 24,000 square foot residence on Lake Minnetonka has five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, an exercise room, 12 heated garage spaces, and 3.5 acres of land. Oh, who are we kidding -- we can't pay last year's property tax on this pad ($76,780).

And finally, this is where shit went bad for Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Daunte Culpepper. Not that is wasn't bad prior to this but.....

2005:
The Hennepin County Sheriff's office is investigating reports that a party on a pair of cruise boats- Al and Alma's Boat Charter , arranged by a Minnesota Vikings prominent player, included nudity, lewd behavior and sex acts.

Quarterback Daunte Culpepper and three other Minnesota Vikings were charged with three misdemeanors each for taking part in a bawdy boat party earlier this season on Lake Minnetonka. Culpepper, Bryant McKinnie, Fred Smoot and Mow Williams were charged with indecent conduct, disorderly conduct and lewd or lascivious conduct, according to court papers.

We were going to eat dinner at Al & Alma's but they weren't open yet. So we headed over to Lord Fletchers.

Lord Fletchers. A fun place to eat, people watch and look at all the "new money"kids on their yachts! Was a fabulous day!
Happy Tuesday!

Pull.....................Crap!!

We went Trap Shooting this weekend. It was so much fun except it rained all day and all the guys had to weather through it. I didn't end up shooting until around 5pm when the rain finally stopped.

Here's Larry and his buddies. If I didn't hear "PULL........ &^%$#" once, I heard it a thousand times yesterday. But hey....it was FUN!

Love the Hummingbird Video Sandi! That is so cool to be so close to them!!

Happy Monday!!!!!!

Hummingbirds Galore

Welcome to all the SITSa's who are dropping by today. I (we) Sandi and I hope that you have a blast reading our posts. I (we) try to comment on everybody that visits but sometimes I (we) get backed up and can't. BUT I (we) eventually get caught up, so hang in there!!!!!!

Thanks again!

Jennifer and Sandi

I hope you guys will indulge me for a moment, but this is one of the coolest things I've done in a long time. These little guys (actually.........mostly gals....) let me hold the bird feeder and tape them at the same time. If you turn your speakers up you can hear them chattering. There were so many of them I could feel the air from their wings on my arms and they obviously didn't have a problem with me being so close to them. Don't peck the hand that feeds you I guess.........

Hurricane Ike Update No. 5,483,309,000,981

WOO HOO!!!! What a ride! I slept until around 4 am and got up and checked outside and it was windy and raining but not as bad as I thought it would be. We faired very well here, just a few limbs and leaves scattered about and my dog's swimming pool was upside down about 6 feet from where I put it. About 4:30 this morning we had a couple of power surges and lost our cable, but it was just a flicker and then came right back on. We were truly blessed.
Houston and Galveston didn't do so good. No one has any power and the city officials have asked that they not use the water unless it's boiled first. Downtown is apparently a disaster area with glass blown out of alot of buildings (oh darn........I might not be able to go to work Monday!!!). One of the reports even showed someones computer in the middle of the street all smashed to smithereen's.

I was worried about leaving my doggie outside, but he has a substantial house of his own and because he doesn't have his indoor manners down very well yet, we let him hang in his own crib.

One little animal I was worried about were our hummingbirds. I had visions of them hanging on to tree limbs for dear life getting the snot blown out of them. I walked out back this morning to take some pictures and guess what I saw in the view finder? That's right..........2 hummingbirds staring back at me. The wind was still blowing pretty hard and these little guys are just flitting all over the place. My husband took the picture of me holding the feeder just a little while ago and there were about 6 hummingsbirds dancing around it.

~Blessings~

Now Where Did Todo Go?

HURRICANE IKE REPORT - 5:21 A.M.

Wow! We actually haven't had so much rain, but the wind has really picked up since 4:00 a.m. I don't know what it was like before that cause I was sleeping! Downtown Houston is a mess. Windows have been blown out and you can see the blinds twisting outside the buildings and debris flying out the windows....(no work Monday?????.......oh darn!).

We have Dish Network and that went out a little while ago but came back up. My computer wigged out so I re-booted and it's okay now (obviously.....hahaha). Think we had a Powah Surge. Knock on wood, were lucky we still have power.

Those that refused to leave Galveston Island were instructed to write their social security numbers on their wrists so they could be identified when this was all over.........YIKES!!!! Dumbasses........

The famous restaurant, Brennan's, in downtown Houston, has burned down to the ground. THAT is upsetting. While I've never been there, it's been a landmark for as long as I can remember and thats A LONGGGGGGGGG time.

The eyewall is downtown now which is Southeast of us. Because of all the tall buildings downtown, there is footage of what looks like tornadoes between the buildings. It's incredible looking. Channel 13's (ABC) station has water coming in their building.

I haven't talked to Officer Princess since about 9:00 last night. Fortunately she was riding with a partner and I'm sure they've been busy. She told me that they were told to go hide when the wind got up to about 50 mph. I don't know what "hide" means......how do you "hide" a big white car???? Hopefully she's back at the station getting some rest. What a brave girl my princess is. We're very proud of her.

It should start getting light in about an hour to an hour and a half and hopefully I can take some pictures to show you.

6:19AM: Jennifer's Hurricane Ike Update

***********************************************************

Welcome to beautiful Hempstead, Texas........soon to be the home of Hurricane Ike. At 6:00 this morning I took the following picture showing the surf crashing over the seawall in Galveston ALREADY!!! The storm isn't suppose to hit until around 1:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Yes, I know I'm not actually at the seawall; I'm standing in my bedroom. They are forecasting a 20 foot storm surge for those counties closest to the Gulf. I'll update this periodically through the day as the storm approaches. Officer Princess (aka Rambette) will be working from noon today until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and hopefully we'll be able to hear from her during the storm and get up to the minute *street cop* reports. (Be safe my Princess!)

And don't forget, scroll down to check out Jennifer's Phriday Photo Phiesta!!!

Officer Princess (Sandi's daughter is a Houston Police Officer) Reports:

Officer Princess says:
Yeah her and Bud were at the grocery store last I heard. They are far enough inland to not evacuate. Only part of Harris County is getting evacuated. The City of Houston is not under a mandatory evacuation yet.

Officer Princess says:
I think I'm going to do a photo journal of my preparations for this stupid ass hurricane. I have to work the day the storm hits.

Jennifer says:
*Gasp* you swore!! I'm telling your mother!

I should have named her...........

Most of you probably don't know that I own an English Cocker Spaniel. Her name is "Luna" Here is a picture of her just days after her eyes opened. She was born Oct 23, 2007. Isn't she cute?

Here is a picture of her the day I brought her home. Dec 7th, 2007. Isn't she cute?

Here is Luna today. She'll be 11 months on the 23rd. I should have named her no, don't, give that back to me, down, stop, get back here, get down or come here. She is an ACTIVE little girl and recently has discovered how FUN it is to jump and walk along the back of the couch. What is even MORE fun is dropping shit BEHIND the couch. To her, it's the best activity a dog can participate in. To her owner, it's annoying, I can't take it and she does it ALL NIGHT LONG. I can see the paint job on my wall is going to be destroyed unless I get a handle on this. I need her to become interested in doing something else and FAST. Any suggestions?

So here's a little piece of what I go through. This whole event takes about 1 minute and then she starts the whole cycle all over again. I've thought about not letting her have her toys but that's not very nice. Why can't she just lay on the floor and play with her toys like NORMAL dogs?
Here's what I end up saying ALL NIGHT LONG......

I usually don't YELL say crap...it's more like FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SHIT, GOD-DA%$#@ it LUNA , DO NOT F'N DROP THAT BABY .. NO....................!!

So there you have it. The joys of owning a puppy. Don't get me wrong. I love her to death and she's the sweetest girl in the world. BUT I NEED GUIDANCE on new puppy activities.

Everyone read Sandi's post today. Hurricane Ike is headed right for her. She will be in my prayers!! AND SEND WATER WINGS!!!!

Happy Thursday!
